STEERING COMMITTEES

To ensure the success of NJFLAN, the State of New Jersey strategically formed three steering committees:

1.  Oversight and Implementation

2.  Survey and Assessment

3.  Outreach and Communications

Oversight and Implementation

This committee will be responsible for monitoring the progress of the overall program, and the work of the committees.  This committee will make decisions concerning the direction of the program.  The members of this committee should include representatives from state government (particularly banking or financial service regulators), financial institutions, financial education organizations, and community groups.

Survey and Assessment

This committee will be responsible for developing the assessment and survey questions to be used in the personal assessment process.  This committee will review questions, collaborate with representatives from educational institutions, and help decide the categories and types of financial related questions for use in the process.  The members of this committee should include representatives from state government (particularly education agencies), educators, and financial service counseling organizations.

Outreach and Communications

This committee will be responsible for expanding the awareness of the program as broad as possible.  This committee will recommend ways to increase the number of organizations participating in the network and the number of sponsors.  The committee will also help develop relationships that will provide opportunities to participate in events, conferences, and other functions designed to maximize exposure for the network.  The members of this committee should include representatives from state government, financial institutions, any business entity offering consumer goods or services, foundations, and community groups.
